Move Safely Forward with Avanti Avanti were one of the first companies to realize the potential for flat surface conveying for these industries and in 1999 were the first to use the plastic belt technology on a corrugator take-off. Today this technology has almost totally replaced the use of roller conveyors. Plastic Belt conveyors, know as Stedi-Stak, are used throughout the food industry for hygienic and smooth conveying. However the loads involved are very small and light. It took a major leap in belt and conveyor design to provide floor mounted conveyors capable of moving over 1000 kg /m2 and total loads on one belt exceeding 9 Tonne. Food conveyors would operate at 1/1000th of this loading. Whilst this technology was chosen for its smooth transport of corrugated sheets there are other huge bonuses. The plastic belts provide a flat walking surface which is far safer than rollers for operators on those occasions when they need to walk on a conveyor. The number of trapping points is greatly reduced and amazingly they can transport very low quality pallets with safety. Many factory accidents are caused by operator interventions and this technology, by providing the smoothest method of transport, has the least need for such operator involvement. These characteristics of Stedi-Stak have lead Avanti into other industries where the safe transport of poor quality or uneven bottomed unit loads are involved. These have included IKEA store warehouses and DHL distribution centre delivery conveyors. Avanti provide a complete materials handling service to the corrugated industry including all conveying, feeding and stacking operations. High levels of automation are provided and the smallest system, perhaps installed for safety reasons, can grow to be a component in a fully automatic factory scheme.
